This course prepares participants to deliver FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training course. Course topics include:
• CERT history, program purpose, and values
• Materials and requirements for the CERT Basic Training course
• Roles of the CERT instructor, Effective presentation of CERT Basic Training content
• Effective coaching and demonstration of skills in the classroom
• Practices to maximize learning and effective evaluation of CERT training participants.
Audience:
Anybody seeking to lead, manage or instruct the CERT Basic Training course
Prerequisites:
Participants in this course must have completed the CERT Basic Training course or have a first responder* background.
*The term "first responder" includes a firefighter, law enforcement officer, paramedic, emergency medical technician, or other individual (including an employee of a legally organized and recognized volunteer organization, whether compensated or not), who, in the course of his or her professional duties, responds to fire, medical, hazardous material, or other similar emergencies. [34 USC 10705 (1)]
Cost:
No cost to attend this course. No meals will be provided. Personal expenses (lodging, meals, mileage, or wages) will not be reimbursed.
