G-402 NIMS Overview for Senior Officials
(Executives, Elected, and Appointed Officials)
The purpose of this course is to familiarize Senior Officials (executives, elected and appointed officials, city/county managers, agency administrators, etc.) with their role in supporting incident management within the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Who: Open to all Senior Executive, Elected, and Appointed Officials for all political subdivisions to include;
counties, cities, villages, sanitary improvement districts.
Where: Lifelong Learning Center – Norfolk, Nebraska
When: Monday, March 30th, 2026
Time: 9:00am to 1:00pm
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
• Overview of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
• Describe the NIMS Management Characteristics, the organizational structure of the Incident Command System (ICS), and the role of the Command and General Staff.
• Review the attributes and purpose of Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs).
• Explain the interconnectivity between the Multi-Agency Coordination (MAC) Group, EOCs, the Joint Information System (JIS) and Incident Command (IC).
