Course Overview: Course Length: 16 hours (2 Days)
By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate through activities and a final exam, the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities required to perform in a management capacity for major and complex incidents/events using Area Command.
Target Audience: The target audience for this course includes experienced senior emergency management personnel who may perform in a management capacity for major or complex incidents. This group includes individuals who may serve as the Incident Commander, as a member of a Unified Command, or as members of the Command or General Staff, or Multiagency Coordination Group/Emergency Operations Center (EOC) management for incidents that may use an Area Command.
The audience may include students from a variety of agencies and functional disciplines, including fire service, law enforcement, emergency management, public works’ departments, as well as public health organizations, medical emergency teams, and hospitals.

Required Prerequisites (all must be dated post March 2019 NIMS revision):
IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System
IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction
ICS-300: Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents
***All prerequisites must be completed and current before you will be added to the roster***
No meals or lodging are provided; students must attend all days and pass the final exam to receive a certificate.
