Wildland Fire Response Grant Now Accepting Applications

The Wildland Fire Response Grant is intended to directly support eligible Nebraska volunteer fire departments that have been impacted by recent wildland fires in Nebraska. Funds distributed through this program are to assist departments with response-related expenses NOT covered by NEMA/FEMA reimbursement.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Nebraska-based
- Volunteer fire department
- Responders to the 2026 Nebraska wildland fires
Funds from this program may not be used for expenses that are reimbursed or expected to be reimbursed through NEMA/FEMA or other public disaster assistance programs.
Eligible Expenses
Eligible expenses may include, but are not limited to:
- Fuel
- Equipment repairs or replacement
- PPE repair or replacement
- Supplies
- Meals, water, and travel costs related directly to deployment
Applicants should provide cost estimates as accurately as possible. Supporting documentation may be requested prior to payment.
Review Process
Applications will be reviewed by NSVFA and funding partners. Awards will be based on eligibility, completeness of information provided, and availability of funds. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding, and partial awards may be made.
Payment and Reporting Timeline
- Initial submission window is from April 20, 2026 to May 15, 2026
- Review & award decisions: ongoing throughout the application period
- Payment issuance: Payments will be issued via check
- An additional round of grant applications may be made if additional donations are received.
