Kentucky Emergency Management sent out several Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) requests for assistance following deadly tornadoes that struck the state Dec. 10-11.  Among those requests was one for a public information officer (PIO) to assist the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  NEMA was able to respond to that request and agreed to send our State Emergency Response Commission Coordinator Alyssa Sanders, who is also a Type 3 incident management team PIO to assist.  Alyssa flew to Kentucky early the next morning for a 14-day deployment. The experience she gained during this deployment will benefit Nebraska during future incidents. She was part of an EMAC response from eight states and numerous federal resources working to provide the greatest possible assistance from all levels of government.
