The Governor has designated the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as the state agency responsible for management and administration of the Public Assistance (PA) Program for disasters declared within the State of Nebraska. In accordance with section 502 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 5121-5207 (the “Stafford Act”), eligible emergency protective measures taken to respond to the COVID-19 emergency at the direction or guidance of public health officials may be reimbursed under Category B of FEMA’s Public Assistance program.
In addition to FEMA’s Public Assistance program, the Small Business Administration has also made assistance available to businesses throughout the entire state of Nebraska, through the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, following a disaster declaration received by Nebraska on April 4, 2020.
