Nebraska Hazards

Nebraskans need to be prepared for a variety of hazards including: drought, earthquakes, extreme heat, floods, hazardous materials, tornadoes, terrorist attacks, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, wildfires and winter weather. Emergency preparedness starts with you. We all need to be ready to take care of ourselves, our families and our neighbors should disaster strike.

Preparedness and hazard mitigation can save lives, protect property and lessen impacts of future disasters. To reduce risk and ensure Nebraska citizens and communities are better prepared, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency has prepared this information to help Nebraska residents benefit from the experience of past events and recommendations from experts in disaster preparation, response, recovery and mitigation.
