Overview:

This course is designed to provide Continuity training for program managers at the Federal, State, Local, and Tribal levels of government. Continuity Guidance Circular 1 provides guidance to the State’s, Territories, Tribes, and Local Government Jurisdictions for developing Continuity Plans and Programs that facilitate the performance of essential functions during any situation which may disrupt normal operations. The goal of this workshop is to provide you with the tools and hands-on experience necessary to improve your departments’ or agencies’ Continuity Plan. This training includes a train-the-trainer module to equip the managers to facilitate the course to others.

Criteria:

Training should be completed by Federal, State, Local, and Tribal personnel who are responsible for managing a Continuity Program.

Prerequisites:

Successful completion of Continuity Managers Train-the-Trainer Course (B/E/L/IS 548); or completion of Independent Study (IS) 546 Continuity of Operations (COOP) Awareness Course and IS 547 Intro to COOP; or completion of the University of Maryland COOP course.

This course provides participants with an understanding of and ability to navigate throughh the difficult aspects of dealing with campus emergencies involving natural or man made events, including acts of violence. The course consists of small, problem-based, integrated group activities that require a coordinated, integrated approach to solve. Through tabletop scenarios, course participants will observe a developing incident and respond in a manner consistent with currently established campus and jurisdictional emergency operations procedures.
