Overview:
Course Description: The revised course provides an introduction to disaster recovery principles and includes current recovery practices and policies. Activities are included in the course to support engaged and participatory learning. A variety of resources for recovery planning are provided and taught in the course, including a FEMA online Community Recovery Management Toolkit (CRMT) and a resource section associated with the Pre-Disaster Recovery Planning Guide for Local Governments (PDRPG-L) that contains links to model plans, templates, tools, lessons learned, best practices, and a range of supplemental reference materials and related pre-disaster planning and disaster recovery resources.
Course Objective:
Course Objectives: After completing this course, participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an increased knowledge of local government responsibilities and challenges associated with disaster recovery.
2. Explain the need to develop, revise, and/or implement a pre-disaster recovery plan.
3. Apply an increased understanding of recent “lessons learned” in disaster recovery at the local level.
Prerequisites:
IS-2900.a: National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) Overview is a required prerequisite, and IS 100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System is a recommended prerequisite.
