Boston Marathon Bombing & Watertown Shootout/Manhunt: Lessons Learned by Chief Michael Lawn
Chief Michael Lawn will discuss in depth the circumstances of the bombing and Watertown. He will discuss the shootout and the subsequent manhunt for the suspect. He will educate the participants on lessons learned by what went right and what went wrong. Finally, he will discuss the aftermath and the challenges his department faced especially around Critical Incident response.
Human Trafficking in the Heartland: Realize, Recognize, and Respond by Anna Brewer
This course will enable the audience to "Realize" that sex trafficking happens anywhere, even in Nebraska; it will help the audience "Recognize" the signs - in both their personal and professional lives; and it will offer a venue through which the audience can "Respond". The course will also discuss critical incident response and the management for first responders who are exposed to sex trafficking.
Bill Gibbs will present the response of the LVMPD to the October 1st shooting on Las Vegas Blvd. There will be a detailed description of the response as an agency, He will share what they have learned and what they have in place for the future.

First Responders & The Mentally Ill by Shannon Black, PhD
Shannon Black will educate the participants with a brief overview of mental illness signs and tips to effectively manage interactions with individuals with a mental disability, illness, or injury. She will also give on an overview of mental disorder and personality types, potential for violence and emergency protective custody process.
